LGBTQ COMMUNITY and FRIENDS

WHAT IS THE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN?

In conversions therapy or reparative therapy words spoken translate in form to lead negative interpretations, falsify, mislead references towards LGBTQ communities. Conversion therapy and reparative therapy are also dangerous and discredited practices that falsely claim to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. Such practices have been rejected in mass of credentials, mainstream medical and mental health organization for decades. However some continue ongoing discrimination, societal bias beliefs against LGBTQ people. Conversions therapy, a “havoc in ruins” leads to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, and sadly increasing risk of suicide in the LGBTQ community.

Not long ago many organizations began to acknowledge the long term damaging effect of words in power of religious abuse towards LGBTQ Communities; to treat people of LGBTQ Community in a religious movement as an “evil spirit addiction” that needed to be cleansed, repent of great sins, to rid bad spirits of great evil; to go as far to chant in what one would be called to “Chant in Religious Tongue” in a sole purpose to rid the demons . The “Strong Hold Effect” in some religions, members and affiliates use this method as a way to tear down the fabric of one’s emotional and physical wellbeing; to treat people of LGBTQ as people in need of saving of their soul.

This wouldn’t be considered a traditional prayer group because it requires members to prayer chant among other religious members as well to chant in a circle over someone who identifies themselves as LGBTQ without permission from the individual to rid something they are compelled to remove like demons in circumstances that resemble an exorcism.

Conversions/Repairitive Therapies: The Lies and Dangers of Efforts to Change Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity”

To date, Connecticut, California, Nevada, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, Oregon, Illinois, Vermont, New York, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Washington, Maryland, Hawaii, New Hampshire and Delaware all have laws or regulations protecting youth from this abusive practice. A growing number of municipalities have also enacted similar protections, including cities and counties in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, Florida, New York, Arizona, Wisconsin and other States soon Followed.

In August of 2013, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld California’s law, which was signed by Democratic Governor Jerry Brown in 2012. In May of 2015 and again in February of 2016, the United States Supreme Court let stand decisions of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholding New Jersey’s law, which was signed by Republican Governor Chris Christie in August of 2013. In February of 2015, a NJ Superior Court judge ruled that misrepresenting homosexuality as a disorder violates the state’s consumer protection laws. Additionally, in June of 2015, the jury in that case found a conversion therapy provider liable for consumer fraud and ordered the provider to pay the plaintiffs for refunds and damages.

In February 2016, the Human Rights Campaign, National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Southern Poverty Law Center filed a consumer fraud complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against People Can Change, a major provider of conversion therapy. The complaint alleges that People Can Change’s advertisements and business practices which claim they can change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity constitute deceptive, false, and misleading practices and can cause serious harm to consumers, all in direct violation of Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. The complaint urges the FTC to take enforcement action to stop these deceptive practices and investigate all practitioners making similar claims.

Some right-wing religious groups promote the concept that an individual can change their sexual orientation or gender identity, either through prayer or other religious efforts, or through so-called “reparative” or “conversion” therapy. The research on such efforts has disproven their efficacy, and also has indicated that they can be affirmatively harmful. Beyond studies focused solely on reparative therapy, broader research clearly demonstrates the significant harm that societal prejudice and family rejection has on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people, particularly youth. Furthermore, there is significant anecdotal evidence of harm to LGBTQ people resulting from attempts to change their sexual orientation and gender identity. Based on this body of evidence, every major medical and mental health organization in the United States has issued a statement condemning the use of conversion therapy.

“The Lies and Dangers of Efforts to Change Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity”

So-called “conversion therapy,” sometimes known as “reparative therapy,” is a range of dangerous and discredited practices that falsely claim to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. Such practices have been rejected by every mainstream medical and mental health organization for decades, but due to continuing discrimination and societal bias against LGBTQ people, some practitioners continue to conduct conversion therapy. Minors are especially vulnerable, and conversion therapy can lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, and suicide.

Jenna’s pleas to connect with her mother with an overabundance amount of strain to have a better relationship becomes bitter as if her love for LGBTQ is branded by her mom obsession and compulsions to rid demons.

Jenna

You are lowering my self esteem. I feel like committing suicide because of it. I can’t take anymore stress. You know my struggles. Its affecting my job and my self-worth. If I could change who I am don’t you think I would? All the hatred in this world, why would I want to be a target of hatred? Why can’t you just love me for who I am?

Your prayer group dictates every decision you makes. Don’t let this church destroy the loving heart felt mother I use to have. Saying you love me are simply words that don’t speak from heartfelt emotions. You use to validate my feelings. The time we use to spend together are gone. You pushed me away because of who I am.

Words from Mom

I’m very concerned about your talk of suicide. Your trying to change your god given image into something it’s not! Thoughts of suicide are caused by trying to be something that you cannot attain. Jerimiah 29:11 tells us the moment we are born God has a plan for us. Honey when you change the plan and can’t succeed you open the door to the enemy to destroy you.  John 10:9-10. Regardless of what your going thru Jenna I will never stop loving you and for you. Please don’t be mad but I must stop enabling your homosexual life. I will pray for you to lead the righteous path to our Lord Jesus Christ. I will pray for you to find the Lord, claim it and repent for your sins.

Words from mom

Jenna, I spent time in the word putting things together to you. My dear friend has the message bible and I liked it and used it, so I bought one for you, and along with that sent you the book about “Strong Holds”. These books and the letter were sent to you from my heart to yours to try to help you. You took them to a secular” counselor who doesn’t know the Lord so of course he says ” it’s not the way to do it”. Do you really think he loves you more than I do?

You can’t ask me to stop loving you! But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds, the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.  2 Corinthians 4:3&4

Jenna

I gave all the letters and box you sent to me to my counselor. The first letter he read he looked at me with empathy. Shoving bible versus down my throat only hurts me more. My counselor was worried that the energy I put into you just loving me for who I am is making me depressed and suicidal.

All bibles say they were edited from original bible and that God is great loving God who also forgives everyone. Why do you keep insinuating that I’m going to hell? We all sin and you are judging me even though you tell me your judging the sin, not me? God said “judge others and you will be judged the same. Christ died for our sins. Through Christ we are washed of our sins. All those believe will pass through the gates of heaven through Jesus Christ.

Words from mom

Jenna, it deeply hurt me for you to say that I’m judging you and not the sin. Your flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone. Knowing you lost your eternity as the wages of sin is spiritual death. Romans 6:23 How could I stop loving you and praying for you? Jesus loved the sinner but judged the sin. Matt 23:13-33 How else can you reconcile unless you understand that Jesus loved the sinner but judged the sin. I know how confused you you must repent, accept the Lord Jesus Christ.

Words from writer

Jenna came to me with the box of stuff her sent her, a bible, the book on strong holds and a pamphlet on conversion therapy. In spit of all Jenna’s efforts have her mom to love her unconditionally for who she is she hasn’t succeeded. If anything her mom treats her as if her love for me as a lesbian couple is an sinful addiction, banning any contact or desire for validation and love unconditionally. Every contact is screened through text and ends with the prayer group and we/I will pray for you.

Words from writer

We decided in that moment to place the bible, the stronghold book and the conversion therapy pamphlet back in the box. We then placed a copy of the Human Rights Campaign article and affidavits regarding conversation therapy into the box along with the items sent to Jenna and mailed it back to her mom. We felt very much validated from our community.

Words from writer

I’ve heard more than my share of bible verses from Jenna’s mom than I’ve done my whole life. This whole concept of religious moral freedom I admit, I get agitated at times thinking about all this saying to myself “hasn’t Jenna suffered enough?” How could her mom do this to her? All this nonsense of strongholds. Why can’t she just love Jenna for who she is, her daughter they have to pray and chant over.

I found myself on many occasions wondering “who made them the righteous leaders of all religions? What makes their religious beliefs more true than others? There’s so many different bible versions out there. What makes one more to the true gospel than another?”

But one thing I’m certain is Jenna is a great person, with great spirit and loves unconditionally. She certainly is quite the crusader.

Featured“Ticket Back to Work”; Is It Worth It?
Ticket Back To Work; Is It Worth It?

(I often find myself dedicated to the needs of others, especially those on Social Security Disability because in this day and age it is difficult enough to qualify, but just as easy to lose. Therefore I dedicate this article to those with disabilities, friends, family and love ones whom have suffered through hard times.)

“Ticket Back to Work” was designed to help workers who are “permanently and totally disabled,” and administration officials say that it is an important lifeline for many people who simply cannot work at all.

In 1999, Congress passed a law authorizing the Ticket to Work program, which offers beneficiaries practical help with a job search. Social Security may also waive medical reviews for those who participate, but not necessarily in some circumstances.

But Social Security officials can take into consideration a person’s age, skills and ability to retrain when determining eligibility. But the question remains: How many beneficiaries could work, given the right services and workplace accommodations?

It was estimated that at least 18 percent of recipients could work and earn at least the threshold at which benefits are suspended. This would imply the amount of social security per month, not yearly as some may say. Other economists say that even among those denied benefits, a majority fail to go back to work, in part because of medical problems and a lack of marketable skills.

The benefits have no expiration date, unlike the current limit for collecting unemployment. Many people spend years appealing denials and building their medical case before being granted benefits, their skills often lag with gaps open on their resume, making it more difficult for them to get back to work.

Beneficiaries, who also fear losing health care coverage, may view their checks as necessity, next to nothing when receiving just $800 or $900 a month. However this applies to local government as well. Many states have county services for those on social security disability and sometimes these provisions can make finances more plausible when it comes to such impoverish conditions by having a monthly medical spenddown before qualifying for medical subsidies.

Let’s say for the moment your SSDI is $1150.00 a month and you receive notice that your income bracket prevents you from getting the necessary medical treatment you require, but rather one would have acquired a monthly $600.00 medical spenddown before qualifying for medical subsidies. This would leave a person $550.00 a month for rent, mortgage, living expense, food and necessities required to survive.

However a person may have opportunities to wave these spenddowns if they were to return or find employment. In many cases those on SSDI would qualify for other subsidies or medical premiums programs.

It is said Social Security offers disability beneficiaries some incentive to ease back into the work force. For nine months after starting a job, they can earn any amount without threatening their benefits and possibly another three years or longer if their income falls below what a person receives in entitlement, with the possibility of keeping their Medicare coverage after going back to work.

Some say Social Security could make this program exponentially more successful but it wouldn’t be enough to dramatically improve the solvency; as many quoted “in one’s mind something’s appear better in the abstract” or perhaps they do it because work for some people gives them dignity and improve their economic condition.”

When a person’s claim comes up for a continuing disability review (CDR), which eventually it will, depending on the type of illness you have and thelikelihood of recovery, you will be sent either a short-form or a long-form to complete and send back. Both ask about your current medical condition, your recent medical treatment, and any work activity. One goes into more detail than the other. If you receive a short-form and you have been working, you may be sent a long-form as a follow up. With either you could have benefits continued or be found to have recovered. If you are only able to work a few hours a week with low earnings, the work may not trigger an early CDR, but of course there are no guarantees.

Someone once asked “I was sent a cessation of benefits. I appealed it and requested that my benefits continue. While waiting for the appeal hearing I received calls from ticket to work providers. I started an IEP with a provider and was told this will stop the process of the appeal. I recently received a letter that my hearing will be within 20 days. Lawyers that I have contacted won’t represent me because am already receiving benefits so they can’t get paid. All I want is to finish my IEP and have the trial work period after I complete it. I’m nervous of starting a full time job without the cushion of my benefits if something happens.”

If you have not already reviewed your claim file and there is still time, it could be good to request the file and review it before a hearing to be sure that all important records are in file.

Regardless of whether you decide to work part-time, you do need to continue under the care of a physician appropriate to your condition because at some point you will have to prove continuing disability. A record of your actual condition will be more important than the doctor’s opinion. You could also consider having a copy of your past medical records to your new doctors so they have your medical background.

If a person’s medical review is initiated, presumably Social Security is then able to finish the review since it had already begun prior to beginning the program. Hypothetically if Social Security finds that you are no longer disabled or medically improved, but you had already started the Ticket to Work program prior to them reaching a decision, does that mean you can ask to finish the program and still receive benefits and Medicare in the interim? The hope being that you can still use the program to find work before benefits are withdrawn.

Social Security is likely to complete a review if the claim is close to due. A person’s Ticket to Work may also terminate; however, if you had already started a vocational rehabilitation program you might be able to continue it or maybe even start one. The Ticket to Work sets up vocational services through your state’s Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. If a person were already connected to the state and receiving vocational services or being set up to, the state might allow one to continue.

When Medicare stops, one may be eligible for sixty-day personal enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act, where you may be able to get benefits with a government-subsidy to help with premiums.

However this leads me back to sustainability; employment that is attainable

Having written many articles on Recruitment Agencies and why agencies are seldom attainable income for those especially on SSDI. it would be vital to do research before engaging in options through an agency. Know your rights, be vigilant when it comes to protecting your SSDI. paperback)

Clearly statistics show unemployment rates have fallen but in this book one will discover as to why more people don’t qualify for unemployment, how being employed by recruitment agencies factors into these problematic flaws.

You’ll find written content regarding people with disabilities whom are losing their SSDI due to being employed by recruitment agencies without understanding certain criteria and/or facts on how “Ticket Back to Work Program” works for those on disability; a flawed system that leaves many prone to potential loss and vulnerabilities.

As ironic as it may seem many are referred to recruitment agencies by government unemployment agencies and/or vocational rehabilitation representation with little or no information on their “Ticket Back to Work Program” status and how it works. The downfall of basic knowledge within recruitment agencies leaves many with disabilities blindsided when referred to recruitment agencies. After all there are no guarantees for permanent job placements as many are told employment opportunities are possible temp to hire with merely the most plausible explanations of potential hire along with a collection of disclaimers and contracts to sign.

Sustainability; attainable stability and financial security must be achieved for one to be successful on “Ticket Back to Work Program” and this is seldom found through recruitment agencies.

Brand building plays an important role in attracting the potential contract employees in any organization. The recruiters brand, values and the career progression they offer to their employees determine the quality of the employees joining the organization.

Moreover, employer branding is very important in the recruitment process as it ensures an effective cultural fit, greater productivity and higher rate of retention. Therefore, shaping the employer brand of the company provides it with an edge against competition.

Staffing versus RPO

The industry standard definition of RPO is “Recruitment Process Outsourcing.” It is a form of “Business Process Outsourcing” (BPO) where an employer transfers all or part of its recruitment processes to an external service provider. An RPO provider can provide its own or may assume a company’s staff, technology, methodologies and reporting. In all cases, RPO differs greatly from providers such as staffing companies or contingent/retained search providers that may assume ownership of a design, management of a recruitment process by report of status results in such forms of finding compatibility of employee/recruitment contract in search and hire for clientele.

A lot of data can be collected through software designed to do so.

However it came to be, personal information had been made available through search for possible candidates. It is within these practices that mass searches gave agencies the ability to filter through data collected for potential candidates. This is referred to as Applicant Tracking System (ATS) as on various websites.

Recruitment doesn’t necessarily supply local hiring from individual self-proclaimed business recruiters portfolios but rather location of recruiters or RPO can maintain their business practices outside regional place of clientele business practices. Perhaps one receives an invite through email or a phone call from a recruiter only to find their place of region isn’t located in the same state in which you may reside but rather their clientele has a location regionally near one’s place of residence. The relativity in such practices may suggest the recruiters found you through a mass search index of SEO, ATS or Platform based web links pertaining to interest or seeking employment elsewhere.

Recruitment marketing or the pre-application phase of locating “potential employees” through social and mobile platforms is a strategy an organization essential needs to attract, engage, and nurture those possible candidates before they apply for the job. Recruitment marketing and contract “skill trades” analytics are crucially as important components of high-performance, potential skilled employee acquisition that help ensure better segmentation of the candidates they acquire through SEO database platforms.

Recruitment Staffing Agencies may outsource in a league of their own when it comes to gainful employment. At times one may find themselves calling frequently to ask if employment is available, but only to be told “no employment is available at this time.”

At least 29 states out of 50 have legal statutes forbidding blacklisting; a crime with consequence and punitive damages.

However blacklisting doesn’t necessarily pertain to recruitment employment availability but rather maybe the recruiter found something unappealing or perhaps the recruiter simply didn’t find one to be relatively adequate and placed one on a least likely to call list.
