FeaturedThe Eagle Soars; Covid No More

Inferno named Covid, a mighty beast has forsaken many lives. Countless lives have vanished; emotionally shed tears of sorrow, tears of raging thunder that have soared beyond reach. The beast mutates constantly spreading sheer hell on earth. He’ll sneak up on us when least expected, wreak havoc in unforeseen ways.

I flashed back on tides when we weathered a Covid Storm that hit close to home. I walked through wooded terrains. I framed an Eagle as it stood silent above on a Willow tree. Our eyes met and somehow I sensed he too weathered a storm with a broken heart. He followed me with his eyes while I embarked on a new foundation, leveling the ground beneath me. I walked picking up branches one by one. I carried them until I reached the fire pit where I sat with my mother and threw those branches into the inferno.

She too noticed the Eagle, sensed his presence while he soared high circling back and forth only to rest on a fallen tree. I turned my head and laid my eyes upon him. The Eagle stood strong on a branch 2 feet from my mother. She rested on a chair 20 feet away from the fire pit drinking her tea; a daily reminder of what was left behind. Not too long ago the beast relentlessly fought to take away what wasn’t his to own; trying to suffocate her till her life was no longer her own.

I sat next to my mother and said “we conquered the inferno, we weathered the storm and we fought the mighty beast. Your life was not his to own; Covid, the mighty beast didn’t win this fight. The inferno you felt was your strength fighting for what was yours. Covid left his mark with a trach of your own. But we won’t let him win this fight because this trach he left you doesn’t define you, outshine you, nor is it beneath you. You are the Eagle that follows me, walks with me, leads with me onto new journeys; we’ll call it our own and leave the madness behind.”

However Covid hasn’t conquered all, but rather we the people can and will make him weaker. One day we’ll level this beast, place him beneath the ground we walk upon. We’ll flourish and soar higher than this beast. Someday we’ll break his spell and send him straight back to hell.
